The New Moon has come around again

The new moon is rising again, and if you have been reading that section from the beginning, you'll know what to do.

But for those who have not and are jumping in at the deep end, here is a brief explanation of what the new moon can signify, and how it is perceived by some beliefs and cultures.

While the spiritual significance of the full moon is well known and recognised, the new moon is often forgotten about and not generally celebrated as such.  However in some beliefs and cultures it is seen as a reason for rebirth of one's hopes, dreams and wishes, the start of a new cycle if you like, with the moons strength increasing as the cycle continues until it reaches full moon, before the strength starts to fade, along with the moons luminance.  In places it is also believed that a wish made during the time of the new moon will gain in strength alongside the moon, reaching its zenith with the full moon, while a wish made on the full moon will lose strength as the moon wanes.

It is well known that the cycle of the moon can have an affect on people, as to whether this is a direct or indirect affect depends on the viewpoint of both yours and the person or persons affected and while there is no concrete proof of this phenomena, it is noted in many places such as hospitals.  Some experience strong dreams during the time of the full moon, even if they have not been directly observing the position in the lunar cycle, though it can be argues that 'Moon watchers' are susceptible as they are observing the moon and subliminally hyping themselves up for the full moon event, making the vivid dreams almost inevitable, though at a time of prolonged cloud cover (Such as last Decembers persistent snow showers), direct observation of the moon is pretty much impossible and often the dreams can come around the expected time.

Real or not, the moon has an affect and an influence, and without it, life may well have evolved much differently than it has today, or it may well have never evolved at all.  Regardless of your belief, if you want to make a wish, now is the time to do it.

So now you know.
