Here you can view the three completed Lob Stories pilot program's. The original Lob Story was a media college project by animator and writer Rob Martin, and featured the 2 main characters reminiscing in their front room. The completed film was taken to CableTel, who at the time were supplying cable TV to the Huddersfield region and were offering funding for original idea's for short locally produced television program's. Impressed with what they saw, they commissioned a 10 minute pilot with some strict guidelines on how the show would be formatted. These guidelines were (mostly) ignored. The first Lob Stories pilot was produced and broke many of the rules set down, including length of the theme tune, overall length of the program and a few other rules, but the program was accepted and a second commissioned. While falling more into line with the general rules, still carved its own path and as a result stands out amongst many short films that fall into the same categories today. Parodying the cultural phenomenon of Gerry Springer, the parody still stands up well today, not only because the name Gerry Springer is still synonymous with the show format that made his name, but that the format still continues today around the world. |
